This is the second time in as many months that my voice has threatened to go on strike and it's getting kind of annoying because of my new Mobile DJ business venture (SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT: Magic Box Media).
One can not make public announcements without a voice!
The same thing happened in December, a week before a Christmas gig.
Luckily, my next gig is not until late February, so I still have some time to heal.
I think it's a combination our crazy weather swings this winter and working too many hours each day.
A quick shout-out to my buddy DJ Brandon up in Fort Worth (SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT: Steward's Productions) who is helping me build awesome light shows by why of some CRAZY hook-up deals. Thanks, bro.
I guess that's about it.

Alone With My Thoughts...And The Scanners...
Here I am, again, sitting alone in the Newsroom, with ten Police, Fire and EMS band scanners just chattering away at each other.
I was literally seconds from logging off the computer and calling it a day when I realized the only other person in room was doing just that: leaving.
We're short a few people this week (on top of our standard skeleton crew schedule) so I figured it would probably happen.
I guess I've come to expect it by this point so I just shook my head and smiled.
In all fairness, I did leave early yesterday with cold-like symptoms, so whatever.
I decided to spend the half-hour writing a blog while I waited for our noon show to end.
Hopefully I can leave it with the producer before the producer leaves it with me. :)

I have nothing to say...
I logged on to write something but, when I got to the window to start typing, I realized I really had nothing to say.
So begets an experiment that kept a popular series afloat for nine years: I am literally going to write about nothing, or more aptly whatever pops into my head at the moment that my fingers are tapping the keys on the keyboard.
I understand this method is helpful when one needs to overcome writer's block.
The Horns lost in the BCS Championship Rose Bowl to #1 Ranked Alabama last night. Am I disappointed? Yes. Does this really affect my life in any way? Not really.
The Cowboys are set to play the Eagles on Saturday for the third time this season, this time it is a playoff game. Am I excited? Yes. Will the outcome of the game affect my life in any way, positive or negative? Not likely.
So why do I form an opinion and then allow these things, of which I exercise no control, to affect my life?
...
Nothing. I really don't have an answer for that question and the truth is I don't even know why I don't have an answer.
Why not renew the subscription to my life's mantra: FuckIT!
But is it healthy to have an uncaring attitude? Probably not, but you know what? FuckIT!

Project 254
There are 254 counties in the great state of Texas and it is my personal goal to visit every one of them.
My method of keeping track is by photographing each courthouse.
Some counties have multiple (read retired) courthouses, so I'll be photographing them as well.
I will also likely be posting multiple angles of the courthouses, so Project 254 could contain anywhere from 500 to 750 photos upon completion.
I started the project in the summer of 2008 but since I currently hold down one full time while additionally operating my own business on the side, I don't have very much free time to dedicate to this massive undertaking.
Hopefully I will have some sort of coffee table book published within the next decade to reflect my efforts.
You can follow my progress here on Flickr.

A New Year; A New Blog
It's the start of a new year and a new decade so I'm kicking off a new online journal.
I'm calling it the 'Bovine Caucus Blog,' a somewhat random name that pretty much should match the content of this journal.
I plan to focus on whatever amuses me at the moment - which in this case is New Year's resolutions. So without anymore delay...here is my list:
1a. Stop procrastinating...on anything in general.
1b. Stop procrastinating and start writing...on personal level in addition to work.
2. Begin Project 365...taking at least one photo per day.
3. Return to GymX...I need to actually USE the membership I already have.
4. Improve my living arrangements.
5. [insert random daily goal here]
THERE!
So it is written. So shall it come to pass.
