Lights, Camera...Still Waiting On The Action

My DJ business continues to grow but is not exactly thriving yet.

Last October, my business partner Pascual and I launched Magic Box Media.

We've got an impressive rig filled with great sound equipment. We have a MASSIVE library filled with many different kinds of music. We've got a 19-inch video monitor and access to a 32-inch monitor. We have access to a camera to record video of our events for playback and/or sale and we work alongside the fastest growing production company here in Central Texas.

We started out with a decent set of sound activated lights which, as the name suggests, follow the pace of the music.

In the past two weeks, however, I've added not two but four different light fixtures to our system...the problem is I still need another one before I feel like we can offer a complete package.

My business partner regularly chides me because I just can't be content with the equipment we've already purchased. Ironically, he wants to add a lighting truss to our setup.

Two weeks ago my fiend and associate in Fort Worth, DJ Brandon of Steward's Productions, sold me a DMX Light Board and two LED Lights.

Then, a week later, before I could even get a chance to play with it and figure out how it works, Brandon found me an awesome deal on a set of Scanner Spotlights to add to light show.

I spent the weekend programming a few different light shows and am now convinced that I need what we call in the industry a "wash" light to help balance the light levels on the dance floor.

As soon as that's purchased, I will, like my partner suggests, need that truss to support all of the weight of the fixtures.

Maybe one of these days, if I ever finish buying equipment, I can actually make a little money from these events.

If you need a DJ for your event happening here in the greater Central Texas region, don't hesitate to book Magic Box Media. We're cheap because we're still largely unknown but we have a lot more to offer than the more established "big boys" in the area.
